Another Success!

15 07 2009

We would like to congratulate the Garsfontein police reservists for their success Thursday  9 July 2009. They captured three suspected robbers before they had time to do their “job” for the night!

It happened in Rubenstein street just after 19:00 when a suspect looking vehicle turned right in front of the reservist vehicle. They stopped the suspect vehicle and a man got out with something in his hands. when he saw that he was outgunned, he dropped a weapon into the car and gave up. The police found several weapons (serial numbers removed) and ammunition in the vehicle. It seems that the vehicle had false plates and the engine number has been removed as well.

They also recovered a bag full of tools used in both house and vehicle break inns.

In the vehicle they found a GPS with addresses already programmed for the area. It seems that this was a list of homes that thay were targeting for the evening.

Two other reservists also arrested 2 red light robbers (believe it was in Garsfontein) on Friday night.

Warning

10 06 2009

We have had two incidents in our area with the same Modus Operandi. The incidents took place in Margaret Hunt (Block 1) and in Vista Street (Block 10). There is one black male who operates in this area, he works in the early morning hours and targets houses with open windows. Once in the yard he will point the victim with a fire arm through the open window and tell them to keep quiet or he will shoot. Luckily he ran away in both cases. Please be aware of this and if possible try to close your windows during the night.  Unfortunately there is no clothing or physical description.

Another success

13 05 2009

Last night (11/05/2009) there was a vehicle break in in Alsation street, Garsfontein.

According to reports, members of the community saw the culprits get into a getaway vehicle and followed them at a safe distance so that they could update the police on their whereabouts. Just before they entered Mamalody, the thieves were stopped and arrested by the police.
All the stolen goods were found.

This goes to show that community involvement does work!

Success Story – Radio Buddie System key to catching criminals

11 02 2009

During January of 2009, criminals broke into the house of a resident and the lady of the house nearly caught them in the act. Still traumatized by the event, the residents decided to purchase a 2 Way radio and join the Radio Buddie system.
On Friday the 7th of February, whilst sitting in her house, the resident spotted an intruder in her garden and immediately alerted the Buddies on her 2 Way radio. Zone leader Mervyn Markram and his son Jacques (a policeman) responded and aided by another Buddie Kassie Coetzer apprehended the suspect as he was jumping over the wall. They called the police and now this criminal is spending some time behind bars.
Well done guys !!! And one day when he is released, he will tell his friends that it is not so easy to break in in Faerie Glen anymore!

Warning!

4 02 2009

Hallo Everyone, just a quick warning.

Armed Robbery

Please be alert. We had the following incident yesterday; The victim was driving in Garsfontein Road, when between Windsor and Hans Strijdom he noticed a white Audi behind him flashing lights. He passed the Hans Strijdom Robot and still noticed the vehicle with the flashing lights behind him. He pulled over and was approached by one male, who asked him how he can be driving without tail lights? As he got out and walked to the back of the car the man took out a fire arm and robbed him of all his valuables. The victim noticed that there where two other men in the Audi and that all 3 of them was wearing what looked like reflective jackets. The suspect told the man to get in the car and drive away without looking back.

Should this happen to you, please drive to the nearest police station. Do not stop or drive home. If possible phone 10111 and explain your situation to them.

Vehicle Related crimes

There is a serious increase in vehicle related crimes in sector 3. PLEASE do not leave your vehicle parked outside or leave ANY valuables in the car!!!! Negligence creates opportunities for crime.

Thank you!
